Theo Hernandez Completes His Transfer To Al Hilal in Big Deal

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the completion of Theo Hernandez’s long-awaited move from AC Milan to Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal, with his famous “Here we go!” announcement marking the end of weeks of negotiations.

The Italian transfer expert confirmed the agreement on social media, writing: “Theo Hernández to Al Hilal, here we go! Agreement now being sealed after a verbal pact made two weeks ago. AC Milan will receive €25m transfer fee as Theo will sign his contract in the upcoming days. New left back for Simone Inzaghi.”

Transfer Details

The 27-year-old French international will join Al Hilal for a transfer fee of €25 million, lower than the initial €35 million that had been discussed in previous negotiations. A basic agreement had already been reached several days ago but now the two parties have reached the final agreement.

The deal is a major addition for Al Hilal manager Simone Inzaghi, who will now have one of Europe’s most dynamic left-backs at his disposal as the Saudi club continues its ambitious project to attract world-class talent.

The transfer saga had been ongoing for several weeks, with Theo making his decision known to the management of Milan that he was open to joining the Saudi side after initially rejecting their advances at the end of June.

Negotiations had been temporarily put on hold during Al Hilal’s participation in the Club World Cup, but after Simone Inzaghi’s team were knocked out of the competition by Fluminense over the weekend, negotiations could proceed towards completion.

End of an Era at Milan

After six seasons in Serie A, 262 appearances, 34 goals and 45 assists, Theo is preparing to leave Milan. The French defender became one of the most consistent performers for the Rossoneri during his time at San Siro, establishing himself as one of the world’s premier attacking full-backs.

The departure marks the end of a successful chapter for both player and club, with Hernandez having been instrumental in Milan’s Serie A title victory in the 2021-22 season and their consistent Champions League campaigns.

The €25 million fee is a capital gain for Milan, who acquired Hernandez from Real Madrid in 2019 for €20 million. The sale will help reduce Milan’s financial losses and provide funds for potential reinforcements in the transfer market.

The move will see him reunite with several high-profile players who have made the switch to the Saudi Pro League in recent transfer windows.

The signing is another statement of intent from Al Hilal as they continue to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level both domestically and in continental competitions.

For Milan, the focus now shifts to identifying and securing a replacement for one of their most important players, with several left-backs reportedly being monitored by the club’s scouting network.
