Szczesny Extend Contract with Barca after a Great Season

FC Barcelona have officially confirmed that Wojciech Szczesny has signed a two-year contract extension, keeping the veteran Polish goalkeeper at Camp Nou until June 30, 2027.

The 35-year-old shot-stopper has been rewarded for his outstanding performances since coming out of retirement to join Barcelona in October 2024, following Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s long-term knee injury.

From Retirement to Renewal

“FC Barcelona and the player Wojciech Szczęsny have reached an agreement for the renewal” of his contract, the club announced on Sunday evening. The deal is a  turnaround for a player who had officially retired from professional football before Barcelona’s emergency call.

Szczesny’s journey back to the top level began when ter Stegen suffered a serious knee injury in Barcelona’s La Liga match against Villarreal last October. The Polish goalkeeper came out of retirement in October last year to help Barcelona deal with Marc-Andre ter Stegen’s injury.
