Is Aurelien Tchouameni on His Way to Manchester United? Potential Transfer After the 2026 World Cup

Aurelien Tchouameni

Aurelien Tchouameni is being heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.

After an impressive run towards the end of last season, Michael Carrick is now guiding his former playing club into the 2026/27 campaign, and is keen to bring in reinforcements as the 20-time English champions attempt to get back in the running for Premier League glory.

Rodri Moving to Madrid Could Give United Green Light for Tchouameni Transfer

Real Madrid seem willing to let their midfielder go. Earlier this summer, there was a lot of talk about Los Blancos looking to poach Chelsea ace Enzo Fernandez. That talk has stifled now, and it looks like they will instead make a move for Rodri, who previously said it would be very difficult for him to turn the biggest club in the world down.

With star players like Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr., Jude Bellingham, and Federico Valverde, keeping a tight hold of Tchouameni isn’t likely to be a priority for Madrid, particularly considering their ambition to bring in a new central midfielder.

What Would Aurelien Tchouameni Bring to Manchester United?

Just like Casemiro, Tchouameni brings a winning mentality and a trophy cabinet to show for it. During his time in Madrid, he has won La Liga and the Champions League.

Even brilliant players like Bruno Fernandes haven’t won a league title in Europe’s top five leagues, or a Champions League.

Having an experienced winner in the dressing room could be a big boost for an aspiring United squad looking to return to the big time.

At 26, he is also in his prime years and could provide a boost in squad depth as United look to compete on all fronts, including the Champions League, but it will be interesting to see if he can seamlessly make the move from La Liga to the more physcial Premier League.

He is currently competing at the World Cup with France, where he has contributed one assist so far. In a couple of weeks’ time, he could very well have a World Cup winners’ medal to add to his fantastic resume. The midfielder was also part of the French squad that came so close in 2022, losing on penalties to Argentina in the final.

Michael Carrick was one of the most underrated English midfielders of all time, known for his footballing intelligence, and could potentially bring Tchouameni’s game on even further. The young manager has shown promise and his hero status at Old Trafford earned him the respect of United fans, and that has only grown based on his performances in the dugout so far.

United also look set to sign Chelsea’s Brazilian talent Andrey Santos to bolster their squad and it is reported they have already agreed a staggering £50 million price tag with the London club.

Casemiro, to an extent, rolled back the years last season, improving massively on his performances in the couple of years prior. However, he won’t be around for much longer, and Tchoumeni could be an integral player for Manchester United for the next five years.

Can He Live Up to His Name?

Man United have signed many big players since the end of the Sir Alex Ferguson era, and a lot of those have failed to hit the heights expected of them.

Falcao and Angel Di Maria spring to mind, and even Paul Pogba probably didn’t impress as much as he could have.

Casemiro has overall been a successful signing, helping United win domestic cups, and fans will be hoping that if they do get Tchoumeni that he will live up to his billing and help restore the club to its former glory.
